Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Efficiency
Ilmārs Vīksne, Mārtiņš Irbe

Description of the Technology

We offer modeling and analysis of interaction phenomena of a vertical axis wind turbine and air flow using the SolidWorks software. The results will determine the power coefficient, torque and other characteristics of the turbine blades under aerodynamic forces for the selected turbine design at various initial conditions of the flow. In fluid regions SolidWorks Flow Simulation solves the Navier-Stokes equations. Calculations can be made for both laminar and turbulent flows. An original Two-Scale Wall Function (2SWF) approach is used for the wall treatment. A multi-parameter optimization of the turbine structure can also be performed.

Applications

The offered service can be used in design, research and manufacturing enterprises that are engaged in development, production and modernization of wind energy installation. Obtained results allows to increase the efficiency of wind energy transformation and to raise the efficiency factor of a wind energy installation.

Advantages

Koncepcijas eksperimentālā pārbaude: uzsākta izpēte un izstrāde (analītiskie / laboratorijas pētījumi), lai apstiprinātu prognozes par tehnoloģijas komponentēm.
