Title The Method of Water Filtering Element Processing

The ability of the filtering element to adsorb microorganisms (viruses and smaller microbes having size from 20-100 nm, bacteria to 0.5-30 μm) is important because the filtering of such organisms only by size is difficult. Due to the small size and mass, microorganism settling as a result of gravity forces is practically impossible. Filtering elements (sand, glass) with a charged surface are used to increase filtering efficiency.

Description of the technology

The proposed method of manufacturing a filter elements allows more efficient use of filter material, to save energy resources, and to facilitate the use of water filters. The manufacturing method of water filter elements is provided that applies the prior exposure of the latter (glass particles) to ultraviolet or ionizing (alpha) radiation. The phenomenon of glass particle charging ensures better absorption of microorganisms and thereby enhance the efficiency of water purification from biological cells.

Applications The scope of the proposed method is the manufacture of filters that focuses on filtering of microorganisms from water, the mechanical treatment of water being applied as well. The method particularly important for purifying of drinking water, water of swimming pools to prevent human from infection.

The method allows to enhance effectivity of the filtering material to use it for filtering of microorganisms and simplify processing of the filtering element.
