Laser cladding method of hardfacing coatings
Sergejs Ločs

The present invention relates to the mechanical engineering industry, in particular to steel laser cladding methods.

The common laser cladding techniques do not provide high quality coatings for high carbon and especially alloy tool steels: high internal residual stresses at the interface between the coating and the substrate cause decrease of adhesion and cohesion strength and as a result cracking or even delamination of coatings.

The object of the invention is obtaining of non-defective hardfacing steel coatings. The objective is achieved by a gradient of mechanical properties in the coating-substrate system obtained by keyhole penetration. The use of the invention enables not only repair of products, but also manufacturing of low-cost common steels with subsequent laser cladding of alloy steels, which significantly increases their durability and reduces the use of expensive and deficient alloy steels.
