The article presents Latvian tourism development, and describes the elaboration of development strategy for a tourism companies. Topicality of the theme - according to accepted in 2009 the Latvian economic strategy for sustainable development, tourism is regarded as one of the Latvian strategic development priorities and choices, and economic orientation of the services with high value, so each tourism company needs to elaborate and effectively manage development strategy. For elaborating the effective development strategy the plans, mission, purposes and tasks were accepted to achieve the main aim. The elements of development strategy are select: the improvement of quality and also the increase of competitiveness of the company, that includes electronic trade, the organisation of marketing events. The model of increase of competitiveness of the company with detailed tasks to be done to achieve the aim.
