In the programming period 2007-2013 the EU fund assistance is mainly directed to public education, technological distinction and flexibility of enterprises, as well as development of science and research to facilitate knowledge-based national economy and strengthen other pre-conditions for sustainable economic development and living conditions in Latvia in general (to achieve average development indicators in the EU Latvia through acquisition of the EU funds has to implement national development strategy prescribed in the National Development Plan.
