The paper studies an organization problem of knowledge control and evaluation in computer-based teaching. Knowledge control problem is reviewed considering two aspects: methodical and technical. The work describes knowledge control model, the basic KC steps: questions forming using control tasks form DB; their presenting to student and his/her answer capturing, possible with feedback; mark’s defining. The paper also shows the classification of KC methods and knowledge assessment models. There are not adaptive, partly adaptive and fully adaptive knowledge control organization methods. Students’ success control can be implemented, considering various mark forming criteria. Depending on that knowledge assessment models can be classified into three main groups: models, based on quantitative criteria; models, based on probability criteria; models, based on classification criteria. The paper outlines possible KC strategies, shows higher education institution tutors questionnaire results, which was done with the goal to find out the most appropriate KC organizing methods during beginning, current, border and final control. The offered knowledge control organizing and assessment methods and models classification can be useful for KC systems developers and tutors while choosing KC strategy. It is planned to continue the research with the goal to develop recommendations for investigated KC methods and models usage in knowledge control organization.
