Evaluation of body reaction to physical loading during sport activity is necessary in sports physiology, for example, for sport professionals and enthusiasts in individual training planning for better result performance and preventing risk of exhaustion, so in various rehabilitation for patients’ health condition observation. Physiological parameters like heart rate, blood pressure, respiration frequency and others are analyzed for sportsman’s or patient’s physical endurance evaluation. Modern technologies give opportunity to observe physiological processes in real time, what insures monitoring of the parameters changes in dynamics and preventing the risk of exhaustion. This research offers several solutions for monitoring of cardiovascular system parameters during sport training with help of wearable experimental photoplethysmography (PPG) device. Two sport accessories- head bandage and cycling gloves- with integrated PPG device have been developed as the result of the research. Photoplethysmography (PPG) is optical method of blood volume determination, which is based on measurement of optical density of respective tissue area. PPG signals consists of pulsatile (AC) component attributed to cardiovascular processes and slowly varying (DC) baseline attributed to respiration, sympathetic nervous system activity and thermoregulation. The developed PPG device operation is based on reflectance type of PPG signal registration. The new developed device has several advantages in comparison with the conventional reflectance PPG device: reduced sizes of electronic components and many-functional software. The new device has improved and safe data transmission that can be realized in 10 m distance and reduced energy use (~40 mA) and improved PPG sensor construction. The software has a digital nonrecursive filter (255 taps) for artifact filtering. Approbation of the developed prototypes in the laboratory evidences that the construction of the device and the software provides its precise and sustained operating. Electronic components of the device are coated with two component silicone to protect the electronics from anthropotoxins and make easier care for the garments. The sensor integrated into the head bandage determines PPG signal from the temporal artery and the one integrated into the cycling glove- from radial artery.
