For years ePortfolio systems have been widely used to demonstrate people’s achievements. In educational organizations teaching staff support the idea of putting into effect ePortfolio tools. Mainly these efforts were, and are, pushed to accumulate students’ assignments, organize their group-working and collect appropriate evidences of achievements and best practices. Despite on variety of e-portfolio systems currently available, there are not sufficient artificial intelligence tools, methods and ePortfolio systems which would consider user’s existing competencies, on-going learning or practise activities, and make corresponding suggestions to the user about the ways in which he or she can improve these competences. To address the problem, we propose the competence matrix approach to be used in future sophisticated ePortfolio systems which could provide the comparison between person’s existing competencies and required ones.
