Substantial changes in trends of the cargo flows have occured in Latvian ports during 2001-2005. Performance of Latvian ports is mainly influenced by different external global economic and political factors. The major of them are Latvia`s accession to the EU and China`s admission to the WTO as well as economic policy of Russia towards Latvian ports.
