Assessment of Efficiency of the Support Mechanism for Electricity Generation from Renewable Energy Sources in Latvia
1st International Scientific Conference “Whither Our Economies”: Conference Proceedings 2011
Arta Deniņa, Jānis Zvanītājs

The paper analyzes and assesses the efficiency of promotion of electricity generation from renewable energy sources (RES) in Latvia by looking at the economic incentives available for entrepreneurs. The main support measure is the obligatory purchase mechanism (OPM) and the feed-in tariffs for electricity that is generated from RES (RES-E). The methodology for assessing the efficiency of the economic incentives for RES-E producers is set out. The paper concludes that there is a room to improve the efficiency of economic incentives for RES-E generation in Latvia.
