Sustainable Development, Quality of Life and Regional Coalitions
2011
Chrisian Lamker

This paper explores the ambigous meaning of sustainable development and quality of life in the context of planning and strategy making at the regional level. A case study design is then used to look at processes of regional coalition building in the Auckland Region, New Zealand, and to identify the different uses of these two concepts. Last, general implications for processes of regional strategy making and regional governance are outlined to successfully overcome deficiencies and deviating understandings.
