Technical textiles are a rapidly developing branch of the textile industry. The textiles contain composites which are used due to their low weight, durability, design variation and longevity in various sectors of the national economy. Within the framework of this research 8 fabric structures were created in leno weaving pattern for reinforcing composites by using inorganic natural basalt fibers from “Kamenny Vek” company (Russia), with fibers of 136 tex linear mass density, the inorganic chemical EC glass fibers from “Valmieras stikla šķiedra” (Latvia) with 136x3 tex linear mass density. Hemp with density of 105 tex (Germany) and 436 tex (Latvia), flax fibers with density of 132 tex, 277 tex and 1619 tex (Latvia), and cotton thread with density of 100 tex were used as samples of the second group of organic natural fibers. Before weaving, density and twist of threads were determined, as well fibers and fabrics were tested on INSTRON pulling device. The samples were woven on craftsman’s loom by 2 warp beams and leno shafts used. The research was focused on development of different fiber types, effective studies of structure optimization of textile reinforcement. The density of warp and weft was varied. Fabric thickness varied from 0.55-2.98 mm and surface density value from 105-606g/m2. Breaking load of samples from organic natural fibers was in range from 340.6 N/267.5N (hemp yarns); 376.5N/359.2N (hemp/flax yarns); 1108.9N / 857.6 N (flax yarns) and (1265.4N/ 859.2N (flax/ cotton yarns); for the structures from mixed fibers – 644.8 N/ 344.4N and 891.4N/ 741.8N (basalt/ flax yarns); 559.6N/ 436.0 N (basalt/ cotton yarns) as well 1259.7N/669.0N (glass fibers/ flex) on warp/weft directions.
