Development of Database of Smart Textile Components

The paper describes the development of database of smart textile components, creation difficulties, principles of implementation and technical solutions. For the development of smart textiles, different components can be used: special fabrics, wires, conductive yarns, micro-displays, wireless modules, solar cells, Bluetooth modules, special substances, light emitting diodes, etc. The goal of research is to develop a useful database of smart textile components, suitable for design process. The design process description is given – this process is uneven, not predictable and can change rapidly, as well as the development of smart textile components is progressive. For this reason, the database should be easily changeable, flexible and increasable. Examples of database tables and management of entity relations between them, as well as flexible and increasable database creation within an inner table is given. The paper describes the structure of database and the process of adding data (resources and their descriptions – title, picture, producer, link to the producer’s homepage, etc.). The optimization of database created in this research is given – different procedures are described: saving, deleting, updating, etc. For changing and optimizing the database, administration module is created. Future research possibilities and practical usage of database are provided in the paper. In the future development of database it is planned to add a user module where it would be possible not only to get information about different smart textile components, but also about their internal relationships and mutual interaction. For easier creation of smart textiles, the samples of different prototypes and their development methodology will be included in the database. The components of these samples will be changeable and the hints for additional components will be given
