Olga Nizkodubova, Gaļina Kozaka

The article examines labour organization of locomotive crews in „LDz Cargo Ltd.” as well as presents the evaluation of the survey made on employee satisfaction with working conditions, remuneration system and infringement procedures. The article focuses on the performance and problems faced by the locomotive crews. Due to the research made dissatisfaction of locomotive crews with different work organization processes was revealed. The motivation of the crew members is decreased by such factors as call work, complicated remuneration system, unjust procedures for violation of traffic safety which leads to lack of sense of responsibility among the crew members, as well as reduces the loyalty towards the company and creates unfavourable work environment. Proposals are put forward for increasing the motivation of freight forwarders, such as introduction of remuneration system understandable for every employee, application of strict criteria for personnel selection and infringement procedures. The measures offered for enhancing labour organization would allow locomotive crews to be proud of their work and their company in general and this, in turn, would improve the company’s prestige in Latvian market.
