At the Riga Polytechnic and the Riga Polytechnical Institute great stress was laid not only on perfecting the process of studies, but also on the educational work, the goal of which is the well educated harmonious personality. The analysis of the sources shows that much attention was given to the civil, ethical and physical development as well as to the education of esthetics. The pedagogical activities which have started at the RP and RPI are continued by the successor of the RPI, The Riga Technical University.
