A method of transmission tower models construction for atmospheric overvoltages performance studies is presented. The overvoltage waves produce electric fields along the tower, the shielding wire and along the conductor. EMTP program has been selected as the software used to generate the fault data. The results show that EMTP is capable for analyzing lightning parameters in the transmission line towers structures. The conclusions of the calculation results presented in this paper is, that the selected tower models can affect the overvoltages waves propagation on high voltage power network segments and its affect will change accordingly with the tower geometrical parameters.
