Juris Balodis (1911-1990) i san outstanding personality in the history of Latvian physical chemistry. His life and work is closely linked with the chzir of Physical Chemistry of Latvian State Universilty (1944-1958) and Riga Polytechnical Institute (1958-1979). Several generations of Latvian students of chemistry have obtained the knowledge in physical chemistry from Juris Balodis books. These are the three original volumes of „ Practical Laboratory Works in Physical Chemistry” (First edition: 1954-1959, Second edition 1975-1977). The year 2011 was the year of Juris Balodis one 100 the anniversary and more then 20 years then he has passed away.
