The Use of ORTUS Portal for Teaching Mathematics in Riga Technical University

Nowadays modern technologies are coming into our everyday life more and more, and the education is not an exception. In 2007 Department of Information Technologies of Riga Technical University (RTU) has created the so-called ORTUS portal with unified e-learning system, based on MOODLE program (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment). Students and teaching staff of RTU use the ORTUS portal actively. The accent of e-learning is put on studies, but not on teaching. The aim is to create an active environment of studies which enables students to accept responsibility about learning process and makes them to be active and creative.
