Abstract A novel efficient and eco-friendly method for the synthesis of 2-trichloromethyl-4-vinyloxazoline is presented that involves Lewis acid-catalyzed cyclization of bisimidate derived from but-3-ene-1,2-diol. The derivatization potential of 2-trichloromethyl-4-vinyloxazoline is demonstrated by ring opening reactions with water, hydrobromic acid, hydrochloric acid, and acetic acid leading to allylamine derivatives.
