The selection of optimal feeding profiles for particular fermentations till now is not enough universally solved problem. Due to this, automatic fed-batch is a challenge for biotechnologists. In fed-batch cultivation processes, time profiles of substrate feeding rates are usually defined before the process. In such a case, operator must follow the process analyzing limiting carbon source (glucose, saccharose, etc.) and biomass concentrations, and according to this analysis, manually correct feeding rate profiles. It means that the performance of such processes depends on the operator’s qualification and experience. To avoid this obstacle, it is necessary to automatically ensure the correction of feeding rate profiles. The goal of present work was to develop modelbased automatic fed-batch control system, which would be available for wide range of users.
