Riga Town Hall Square
Riga Town Hall Square 2010
Jānis Krastiņš

Town hall squares are hearts of many European historical cities. For over half a century Riga did not have its town hall square, as it got destroyed during World War II. In the 21st century, the place has partially regained its spatial dimensions. Today the reconstruced Town Hall Square is not only the official geographical and administrative centre, but also the emotional heart of the city. The Riga Town Hall Square and buildings surrounding it are analysed in the mirror of their recent history in the book.
