In the last few years, a vast number of organic compounds have been described as potential endocrine disruptors and have been detected in surface water and drinking water. Effluents from conventional municipal wastewater plants(WWTP) are considered aso one of the main source of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) into the aquatic environment because these processes are unable to act as a reliable barrier to some of them. The relevance of endocrine disruption and genotoxicity have been demonstrated.
