Application of the Indicators of the Environmental Impact Assessment in Latvia and Necessity of Approval

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure is introduced in Latvia in 1998 in the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment. Since then there have been a number of different EIA project ideas and projects, including at least 10 environmental impact assessments for reconstructed or newly built national motorway roads. Effect of the activities provides a quantitative assessment of indicators that provide the highest possible objectivity of the assessment process.
