Abstract Combination of silver antibacterial properties and hydroxyapatite bioactivity, biocompatibility and osteoconductivity leads to the materials which are biocompatible and bactericidal. The aim of this study was to obtain the HAp/Ag mixed crystals by two different methods, determine the phase composition of as-synthesized and sintered powders, evaluate silver state within HAp structure, compare and estimate the physical properties of sintered powders and elucidate the effect of the preparation method on the antibacterial activity of the prepared samples.
