The main dominants of spatial composition in the Livonian Order and Bishopric of Courland towns Kuldīga, Aizpute, Ventspils and Piltene were a castle with chapel or Domcapitel. Lutheran was proclaimed as official religion in the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. Reformation contributed the establishment of new building types. Understanding about architectural planning was changed and center building was formed near the church. The aim of the study: is to analyze development of layout composition in the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia cities at the end of the 16th century and the 17th century, as well as to establish the leader of building dominant in urban space.
