The purpose of this paper is to analyze the influence of permanent magnets' number and width on the torque of a magnetic coupler, which has rectangular form permanent magnets. The work includes the calculation of a mechanical torque, applying program QuickField, which calculates magnetic field, using finite element method (FEM). The calculations are made for actually operating magnetic couplers. The mechanical torque is calculated in QuickField and compared with an experimentally obtained mechanical torque. The most suitable combination of magnets' number and width has been found.
