History of Tidal Effect Observations
53. RTU Studentu zinātniskās un tehniskās konferences materiāli 2012
Diāna Haritonova, Jānis Balodis

Each point on the Earth’s surface is affected by two forces: force of attraction, defined by the attraction of the Earth's mass, and force of inertia, arised from the Earth’s rotation. The resultant vector of these forces has a direction to the Earth's interior. The magnitude and direction of this vector couldn’t be considered as constants because the gravitational forces of the Sun and Moon affect them. The gravitational force changes with position of both celestial bodies.
