Nowadays immigration is a permanent phenomenon in everyday life of Europe. The number of people migrating to Latvia is growing with every year. Therefore, the local labor market is developing into an open labor market. Withal, as a result of reduction and aging of local population, the labor market of Latvia will be facing a lack of workers in near future and it will be necessary to invite workers from other countries. Thereof, Latvia has to prepare and take into account the experience of other European Union (ES) countries to develop the immigration policy which uses the immigration and open labor market more as a source providing better economical, social and also political conditions for both local inhabitants and immigrants. Students are the employees and employers of the future labour market. Because there is a growth of immigration in Latvia, it is possible that students will have to work in a multicultural environment. Therefore, the aim of the research was to analyze the development of an open labor market in Latvia as a result of immigration and identify the attitude of students towards an open labour market, its advantages and drawbacks.
