2014
Igors Ivaškins

Rapid growth of information and communication technologies (ICT) has provided new opportunities for knowledge acquisition, especially in foreign language learning. It is a new pedagogic reality, which empowers both teachers and students and provides wide access to information and versatile virtual sources of knowledge. The paper is considered as an intersectional analysis of three scientific branches, i.e. ICT, Pedagogy and the Subject of speciality. As the result of interaction among three scientific branches a new discipline is composed. This up-to-date discipline is based on the application of ICT for educational requirements. The Subject of speciality composes the core of educational discipline. This Subject determines the direction of Subject learning. The leading role belongs to Pedagogy as an educator leads the teaching process directed to the self-study of definite subject on the base of ICT application. The variety of widely used abbreviations denoting ICT-based Subject points at the actuality of the issue and the rise of scientific interest to it.
