In 1958, with the renovation of the Riga Polytechnical Institute, the Faculty of Chemistry of the Latvian State University passed transferred to the new institute. The faculty continued to prepare specialists in chemical technology. The number of students increased from 268 (1958) to 938 (1968). A lot of scientific research was conducted. Three scientific laboratories started operating. A total 16 doctoral theses in sciences and more than 180 theses of candidates of science were prepared and defended. In 1983, the faculty was transferred from Kronvalda bulvāris 4 to the new premises on the Ķīpsala isle at Āzenes Street 14. In 1986, the faculty was renamed the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Riga Polytechnical Institute. In 1987, there were 276 employees working at the faculty, 66 of whom were lecturers and 87 – scientific collaborators.
