The graduate of the Commercial Department at the Riga Polytechnical School (later known as the Riga Polytechnicum/Riga Polytechnical Institute), Nikolay Mikhailovich Zablocky (Николай Михайлович Заблоцкий) worked as a teacher most of his life. In 1919, he was among the founders of the the Latvian Secondary School No. 4, where he worked till retirement. For some time, Zablocky was employed as a lecturer for Russian University Courses, and in the summer of 1929 – for a brief period – he held the position of a rector of the said educational establishment. To honour Zablocky’s exceptional services in the field of Latvian education, in 1932, he received the Order of the Three Stars, the Fifth Rank. Indeed, Nikolay Zablocky was one those educators, on whom the the whole educational system of Latvia was firmly based during the interwar period.
