Variety of information sources both in the World Wide Web and in specific data bases inside organizations contain valuable and reusable information. Nowadays there are trends to use this existing information in automated information processing solutions. Information processing usually consists of activities, which can be classified in four main groups, namely, information acquisition, analysis, decision making and decision implementation. However, in practice the full automation of activities is not always necessary or possible. This leads to the situation where in the process of information processing the activities are with different automation levels. Research in the thesis is done in the context of information processing in education domain designated for systemic education demand and offer (edu d/o) information monitoring. For this purpose in the thesis the edu d/o information monitoring system’s model was developed including the following sub-models: base service model, base service flow model, system’s functional structure variability model (based on feature model extended in the thesis), and system’s behavior variability model. To ensure the alignment of sub-models methods for feature model design and intention oriented service composition were developed. The edu d/o information monitoring system’s model was evaluated by two implementations in software prototypes, namely, EduMON portal and KIVIS tool. Services operated by these systems foster the achievement of stakeholder goals for edu d/o information status and correspondence monitoring. The results of the thesis are published in 20 international scientific publications and presented in 12 international conferences. The doctoral thesis includes 5 sections, main results and conclusions section. It consists of 140 pages, 49 figures and 14 tables in the main text, 6 appendices. The bibliography contains 158 references.
