Abstract The choice of mortar composition for restoration purposes must be based on the results of research on the historic material. Hydraulicity plays important role in the durability of mortars. As appropriate material for restoration purposes aerial lime mortars with Portland cement as pozzolan additive can be used. The research of the change of hydraulicity of series of cement-lime mixtures with cement content up to 10 % approved that hydraulicity of binders is contributed to amount of added cement, allowing to choose best matching composition for each object.
