The article is devoted to the personality and life of the docent (1920-1931) and professor (1931-1937) at the University of Latvia, Alekxander Dauge. This also analyzes the evaluation of his works in art pedagogy, pedagogy as a scientific and modern discipline, and studies in literature academicians. The first honorary doctor in pedagogy (1930) and first Chair of the Department of Pedagogy at University of Latvia Dauge has written and edited many books. He was a great orator as well. He was the Minister of Education and dedicated public contributor. His works and ideas are still greoted and studied.
