Perforated Metallic Materials and Their Application Possibilities
2015
Mihails Lisicins, Viktors Mironovs

This book describes the basic types of perforated metallic materials to include their geometrical parameters, physical and mechanical properties. Metallic materials perforation and profiling methods are described as well as the associated equipment and apparatus. The complex shape of the profiles produced are demonstrated using the method of twisting the ribbon material as well as elements of welding, soldering and adhesive bonding technology. This book further provides examples of metallic material construction through the use of boundary structures and structural joints, reinforcement constructions, assembly work, etc. Perforated metallic materials of mechanical engineering are used in ventilation channels, filters and equipment for making frames. Particular attention is paid to the perforated metal residual material that can be derived from the compact flat driving chain element stamping process. This type of material and articles of these geometric parameters and physical mechanical properties are discussed. The initial balance of the perforated material technical-economic indicators calculation is given on the basis of waste material samples achieved in JSC “DITTON Driving Chain Factory” (Daugavpils, Latvia). Modern point and seam welding, as well as profiling techniques used to produce planar and three-dimensional structures made from perforated metal tape are illustrated. This book focuses on the corrosion protection of metallic materials. The anti-corrosion techniques such as galvanizing, plating, and coating of special creation are discussed. Methods for the detection and modeling of perforated steel strip, strength indications, and evaluation are discussed in this work. An important aspect of the perforated sheet material calculation and modeling is the stress concentration zones around the perforation slits, which directly affects the load-bearing capacity of the material. The calculated examples of perforated elements tension and compression loads are given. Finite element mathematical modeling is used for perforated element calculations. This paper provides an extensive list of references on the listed topics. The book is intended for the construction and mechanics specialty students and candidates of science degree. It may be useful for engineering professionals for structural design and mechanical engineering professionals for product design.
