Abstract To improve the mechanical properties of α-tricalcium phosphate (α-TCP) based CPC for drug delivery applications, cements were reinforced with silk microfibers. The effect of drug loaded microcapsules and reinforcing fibres on CPC mechanical properties and drug release kinetics was investigated.
