Modern society could be characterized as a multicultural society. The environment of a higher education institution is also more multicultural than monocultural. Cultures have an influence on one another. That is why the students’ identity is also developing as a multicultural one. In such circumstances the issue of the necessity to preserve students’ original culture identity and at the same time to develop it as a multicultural identity is topical. The aim of the research was to identify: 1) if students consider their cultural identity to be strong enough to survive, 2) how students evaluate the influence of other cultural identities on their original cultural identity, 3) what the definition of the concept ‘multicultural identity’ could be, 4) what the students’ attitude towards the development of their identity as a multicultural identity is like.
