The Long-Term Regional Planning System and Its Implementation in Latvia

The article investigates the methodological and methodical basis on which the system is built for long-term planning in Latvia after its accession to the European Union. Comparing the basic documents governing the system of long-term planning, stated that the Latvian legislation complies with the European Charter for Regional/Spatial Planning, confirming the basic objectives to be achieved, the problem to be solved, and the principles that should be followed in the planning process. The article determines the most weaknesses in the planning system.
