Modern scientific texts are characterized by the application of both traditional rhetorical strategies used to structure the content and rhetorical strategies characteristic of other genres. Changes in the genres of professional communication are caused by the necessity to make the process of knowledge exchange more persuasive and expressive. The application of rhetorical strategies creates additional meanings to communicate the intended information and facilitate the decoding of this information by target readers in case they have a relevant background. Integrating genre analysis and pragmatic analysis, the paper studies how rhetorical strategies contribute to adequate meaning transfer in the process of translation.
