Stability of Shallow Mixing Layers with Free Surface and Nonuniform Friction
APLIMAT 2016 : 15th Conference on Applied Mathematics: Proceedings 2016
Andrejs Koliškins, Vladislavs Kremeņeckis

Hydrodynamic stability of shallow mixing layers with free surface is analyzed in the paper. It is assumed that the friction coeficient is not constant in the transverse direction of the flow. Linear stability problem is solved numerically for different values of the parameters of the problem. It is shown that nonuniform friction stabilizes the flow.
