Insight into the History of Psychology in Latvia until 1944

The article provides an analysis of the development of psychology in Latvia from the 19 th century to 1944. Psychology as a science developed in direct cooperation with the specialists in other countries, such as Germany and Russia. While there are already a number of publications about the history of psychology in Latvia, some locally as well as internationally known personalities are not mentioned. The well‑known psychologists Rudolf Urbantschitsch, Siegfried Bernfeld, Otto Fenichel, Ferdinand Birnbaum, Ludwig Klages and others held lectures in Latvia. Several scientific institutes and societies, which at the time served the further advance of psychology.
