In metallurgy, to achieve liquid metal volume composition and temperature, uniformity stirring is often necessary. Here, a novel permanent magnet system for liquid melt stirring is proposed. It promises very low energy consumption and more options for multiple flow types compared to traditional traveling magnetic field inductors. The proposed system has a simple design: it consists of two rotating permanent magnet cylinders, which are magnetized transversely to the axis of the cylinder. The experimental device was developed and tested under various regimes using Ga-In-Sn alloy in a cylindrical crucible. The experiments have been designed to validate the application of this technology for industrial- sized crucibles, particularly for small and mid-sized aluminum furnaces.
