The article deals with the history of the building of Riga Technical University at Kronvalda bulvaris 1. The people that have been working and learning there are mentioned. The building was built for the Realschule (secondary modern school) of the Russian Tsar Peter I. During the First World War, when the frontlines approached, the Realschule was evacuated into inner Russia and never turned back to Latvia. After the foundation of the Republic of Latvia (1918), for a short period of time there were German schools, then the Academy of Arts, and since 1922 – the University of Latvia. In 1958, after reinstating Riga Polytechnic Institute (RPI), founded in 1862, the building at Kronvalda bulvaris 1 was assigned to the institute for study purposes. So, the building has experienced many changes. Finally, in 1990, RPI was renamed Riga Technical University (RTU). Until 2014, the building housed the Faculty of Power and Electrical Engineering, and later it was used for the Faculty of E-Learning Technologies and Humanities, the Engineering High School of Riga Technical University, the Museum of RTU, the Preparatory Courses, the Centre for International Cooperation, and the Department of Foreign Students.
