Lightweight concrete is becoming a popular material used in the construction of modern buildings. Due to its properties, the foamed concrete (FC) is the most prospective solution among the different types of lightweight concrete. Problems restricting wide application of foam concrete are related to its increased drying shrinkage and low strength compared to autoclaved gas silicate concrete with the same density. Recent achievements of the concrete science (such as use of superplasticizers, pozzolanic micro and nano fillers, as well as micro and nano fibers) and lightweight aggregate allow minimizing these problems and improving properties of the foam concrete. The most effective solution for achieving low density, law water absorption and localization of shrinkage is application of lightweight aggregate-foamed glass grains. However, due to high silica content in foam glass aggregate, using it in cement-based composites creates a risk of alkali-silica reactions. The aim of this study is to create high performance lightweight concrete with granulated foamed glass, and to evaluate the possibilities to localize alkali-silica reactions using different admixtures, including carbon nanotubes. In order to evaluate physical-mechanical properties and durability, several samples of high density and medium density foam concrete were prepared with adding foam glass grains up to 50% of their volume as well as without foam glass grains. The samples was tested for compressive strength, water absorption and subjected to freeze-thaw cycles. The interaction mechanism between carbon nanotubes and foam concrete has been investigated. It was supposed that application of carbon nanotubes can improve foam concrete durability.
