This work is devoted to the investigation of the milling process of austenitic stainless steel AISI 321 (GOST 08Х18Н10Т, EN 1.4541). As distinct from widely used steel of the same class AISI 304 (GOST 08Х18Н10, EN 1.4301) the steel AISI 321 contains titanium, which considerably influences the machining process and the wear of the cutting tool. The experimental research of the peculiarities of the milling of austenitic stainless steel AISI 321 in comparison with AISI 304 was done and presented in this work. After analysis of received results the recommendations on the milling of steel AISI 321 were elaborated and offered. The follow-through proposed procedure will provide better cutting characteristics and lower wear of the cutting tool.
