In this paper an investigation is carried out on how to decrease the time duration of the pulses used in a ground penetrating radar (GPR) system. The basic idea is to change the waveform of the pulses which are applied to the transmit antenna in order to flatten the spectrum of the received pulses. The experimental and simulation results of the obtained signals are provided.
