The use of solar energy is one of the future development opportunities for DH system as several solar DH are already operating by showing economic feasibility. Therefore, DH Company can use the solar energy for both heat and power generation, as there are many possibilities for further use of this energy. The main aim of this article is to analyse different opportunities (SC, PV and PVT installation) of DH Company to use the solar energy for a presumption coverage. Results show that when installing PV 90 MWh of power is generated annually from which 49 MWh can be used directly for self-consumption coverage. In PVT scenario, solar cell efficiency is higher, therefore, more power is generated – 270 MWh annually from which only 24 % is used directly in DH plant. In both SC and PVT scenario, all of the generated heat from solar system is directly used for DHW preparation. For all scenarios, economic analysis has been made by determining simple payback time and the PVT installation shows the most economic suitability for DH purpose.
