Modeling of Two-Trolleybus Motion with Braking Energy Exchange and Transmission Resistance
2018 25th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Optimization in Control of Electric Drives (IWED 2018) 2018

Majority of modern trolleybuses are equipped with AC traction drives which are able to recuperate braking energy that is reusable by applying storage systems. However, public transport infrastructure rebuilding is financially expensive and while there are no mobile or stationary energy storage systems, general solution is to transfer the braking energy to another accelerating trolleybus in the same overhead DC network section. In frames of this work, a novel Matlab model ensuring a possibility to simulate two-trolleybus motion along a common overhead line section was developed and theoretical explanation of the idea is given. Simulation examples were performed.
