In order to correctly determine of the survivability of rolling stock parts during fatigue tests, it is necessary to accurately determine the time of the fatigue crack start. This work is devoted to the acoustic-emission method of detecting a fatigue crack at the initial stage of its growth. Frequency, time and median filters are applied. The technique was applied during the testing of side frames of wheeled trolleys of freight cars.
