How Black is the Black Knight: Multimodal Representation of Allusive Images in Specialized Discourse

The paper provides an overview of the evolution of the allusive image of Black Knight in English, Russian and Latvian literature and analyze manifestations of this image in the specialized promotional discourse. Insights into the cognitive mapping of the concept BLACK KNIGHT may help solve translation challenges associated with polysemy and ambiguity, as well as incompatibility of the fields of reference in the source and target languages.
